COVID-19: Two deaths, 1,740 new cases in Qatar


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, May 27 (KUNA) -- Qatar said on Wednesday coronavirus deaths rose by two to 30 as positive cases increased by 1,740 to 48,847.
Health authorities attributed the fatalities to patients, aged 75 and 68, who had been suffering from chronic diseases and were being hospitalised at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
As for the newly-registered cases, a statement revealed these comprise expatriate workers and nationals and their families, who were infected after having made contact with others already infected.
Over the past 24 hours, some 12 patients have been admitted to the ICU, bringing the total number of these cases to 203.
Meanwhile, some 1,439 people have been cured of the virus as this total reached 13,283. (end)
