Qatar- QRCS provides medical aid to Gaziantep province in Turkey

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has provided medical aid to the Gaziantep province in Turkey in response to the invitation sent by the province's Department of Associations to a number of humanitarian organizations working in the Syrian affairs there.

The medical aid included protective equipment to protect against the coronavirus (COVID-19), which included 36,000 masks and 72,000 medical gloves, in order to provide the necessary preventive support to medical and non-medical personnel working in hospitals and government departments involved between the Turkish and Syrian sides located in northern Syria.

Gaziantep is one of the border provinces adjacent to Syria, which provides a number of temporary shelters for Syrian refugees, with about 400,000 Syrians living there since 2011.

Meanwhile, QRCS, through its representative mission in Turkey, continues to implement measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus inside Syria, through coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO) and humanitarian organizations working there, which includes establishing and following up the implementation of preparedness and response plans, and activating preventive and administrative procedures at the level of the various health facilities and services.
