(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, May 12 (Petra) - The government on Tuesday underlined its keenness on transparency and credibility, and providing accurate information to the public opinion and citizens, said Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh.
In a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, Adaileh said, "Any case of exaggeration or causing panic will be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law, and we will hold accountable everyone who causes it."
Adaileh pointed to the apology presented by the Jordan News Agency (Petra) due to misinformation it had published on the numbers of infections on Tuesday, which was conveyed by one of its reporters in the field, reaffirming that the current situation doesn't tolerate any mistakes, and everyone who causes them will be held accountable.
On inquiries regarding the mechanism of receiving applications to return to the Kingdom submitted by children of Jordanian women, and holders of Jordanian temporary passports residing in Jordan, Adaileh explained that they can contact Jordanian embassies in the countries where they reside, and submit applications through them. He indicated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates will reopen the online platform (safelyhome.gov.jo) in the coming days for Jordanians, holders of temporary passports, or children of Jordanian women, who were unable to register in previous times.
With regard to allowing commercial sectors to operate during the first day of Eid, Adaileh reiterated that this day will be a full curfew, similar to what is applied every Friday, while allowing people to go out on foot only, and therefore the commercial sectors will not be allowed to work.
The minister noted that the Prime Ministry on Tuesday shared the guidelines for returning to work in government departments starting from Tuesday, May 26, with all government ministries and institutions, after the approval of the Cabinet.
He explained that the guide aims to prepare employees to return to work, take preventive and public health measures, and sustain the provision of services to citizens in-house or from remote locations.
In this regard, Adaileh said Jordan is the first country, within the SIGMA (Support for Improvement in Governance and Management) program, to have initiated a guide to re-operationalize the public sector, after nearly two and a half months of partial stoppage due to the coronavirus pandemic.
