Mudslides in Liberia leave 45 miners dead


A local source said that mudslides that took place in Massakpa and Bamgoma northwestern towns of Liberia have resulted in the death of 45 miners.

A Bamgoma youth leader who helped in the rescue missions, Banku Sheriff, said that the rescuers were able to find 45 bodies of deceased workers from two mining locaitons.

The leader said that the victims were performing an illegal mining activity in the towns which are rich in gold and fall in the Grand Cape Mount County of Liberia.
