Kuwait Zakat House offers have-nots KD 3.7 mln in total


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, May 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Zakat House has provided a total of KD 3.7 million (USD 12 million) to as many as 14,894 needy families between March 15 and April 25, said the charity's chief Saturday.
Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), the charity has offered aid to registered families in three phases in order to mitigate relevant impacts on them, Mohammad Al-Otaibi said in a statement to KUNA.
The first phase targeted widows and divorcees, orphans, seniors and people with disabilities, while the second and third phases aimed at serving low-income people, he elaborated.
In addition, the Kuwaiti charity is set to commence the fourth stage ahead of Eid Al-Fitr, he added. (end)
