Sri Lanka suspends fuel import as stocks available

(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Sri Lanka has decided to suspend the import of fuel as current stocks have hardly been used as a result of the curfew.

Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal Limited Chairman, Uvais Mohamed, said that there is enough fuel for another month.

He said that steps have been taken to cancel orders for fuel already given as there is enough fuel in the storage facilities.

Mohamed said that orders had been placed earlier for fuel expecting heavy fuel usage on a daily basis.

However, with the curfew less vehicles are on the streets and as a result very little fuel is purchased.

He said that fuel consumption has reduced by about 40-50 percent in the country. (Colombo Gazette)
