São Paulo –Airbnb, the lodging rental platform which connects hosts and travelers, put out an online version of its formerly real-life ' Experiências ' project. The project sees hosts take viewers to tourist spots, for walks around the neighborhood, a dance class, a culinary activity or other experiences.
The online version is a move to stay connected with customers amid the self-isolation currently taking place around the world. More than 50 options from specialist hosts in 30 countries are available, with new options due in months to come.
The one-on-one version of 'Experiences' has been put on hold until late April, to help ensure hosts and guests are safe from Covid-19. 'Experiences Online' is yet to feature content made in Brazil, but Brazilians can experience things like a cooking lesson with a family in Morocco.
Airbnb: learn to cook a typical dish online
' Cooking class with Moroccan family ' is taught by husband and wife Brahim and Sana. In the video, French- and English-speaking couple will let viewers know that they're ready to answer questions about their culture. Viewers are invited to take an online trip and discover authentic Moroccan cooking. Brahim and Sana will teach a host of techniques, a main course with chicken, and a Moroccan salad.
The experience costs BRL 69 per person and each one-and-a-half-hour class accommodates up to five viewers. In the description, viewers will find everything they need to cook along. According to the hosts, viewers can get in touch beforehand and pick a different dish, or even Moroccan bread or crêpe.
Airbnb Online Experiences take place via the Zoom videoconferencing app. According to Airbnb, access is offered free of charge to hosts, along with customized curation, filming and content sharing services.
