COVID-19 death toll in Brazil surpasses 1,120


(MENAFN) The total number of deaths related to the merciless COVID-19 in Brazil has risen to 1,124 as the most infectious infection claimed 68 more lives over the past 24 hours, according to the statement of the State's Health Ministry released on Saturday.


The ministerial figures showed that Brazil registered a death rate at 5.4 percent, with the number bringing the country to the first place among all Latin American nation with the highest records of deaths and confirmed cases related to the COVID-19.

In the last few hours, 1,089 new cases have been registered, bring the count to 20,727.


San Paulo is the worst-hit state in Brazil by the novel coronavirus, as it has recorded the majority of cases and fatalities with 8,419 and 560 respectively, followed by Rio de Janeiro, Ceara, Amazonas, and Pernambuco with lower figures in each.
