(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, March 31 (KUNA) -- The number of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infections and deaths continues Tuesday to balloon worldwide on Tuesday, despites massive efforts to contain it.
In Egypt, the Health Ministry confirmed 54 new cases of infection, up to 710 and new five (COVID-19) deaths, taking the toll up to 46.
Qatar also reported 88 new positive cases and one new fatality, raising the Arabian Gulf Emirate's toll to 781 infections and two fatalities.
In Cyprus, the health authorities announced another fatality from coronavirus bringing total fatalities to eight.
The Ministry of Health also announced that 32 more cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed, bringing the total tally to 262.
In the meantime, the National Security Council of Tunisia, chaired by President Kais Saied, on Tuesday extended the nationwide lockdown by two weeks, starting April 5, 2020.
The killer bug has killed eight people and infected 312 others in Tunisia till March 29. (pick up previous)
