Clashes in Afghanistan leave 8 activists, 10 soldiers dead

Authorities said that a clash that took place between Taliban militants and the Afghan security forces in the province of Badakhshan in Jurm district on Saturday has resulted in the death of 10 soldiers of the Afghan army and 8 militants.

Naji Nazari from the provincial council said that "Taliban militants stormed Afghan National Defense and Security Forces' security checkpoints in different locations in Dara-e-Khostak locality of Jurm at wee hours of Saturday. The security forces repelled the attackers after heavy fighting".

The official said that the clashes have resuletd in injuries to five soldiers and mutliple security force officials have gone missing, he also said that the number of deaths might increase.

The clash has been confrimed by the Afghan Defense Minsitry, and it said that the security forces of Afghanistan have retreated from four security checkpoints in the district.
