Qatar- Cabinet discusses distance learning programme, steps to fight COVID-19


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, chaired the regular meeting held by the Cabinet at its headquarters in the Amiri Diwan, yesterday.
Following the meeting, the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, H E Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi, issued the statement. The Cabinet reviewed the topics on the agenda.
H E the Minister of Education and Higher Education discussed in a presentation the distance learning programme which began in the country on Sunday, with a focus on the observation made by parents and students. H E the Minister said that the Ministry followed up on the remarks took the necessary measures to resolve these problems, including updating the systems program.
Afterwards, the Council considered the topics on the agenda. First the cabinet was briefed on the recommendations of the Shura Council on the measures taken to contain the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Afterwards, the cabinet approved hosting a seminar organised by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on emerging technologies in the field of air control, set to take place in the final quarter of 2020. 
The cabinet also approved a Memorandum of Understanding between GCC member countries in the field of Waqf. The cabinet also took the necessary measures needed to ratify a memorandum of understanding between the government of the State of Qatar represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Office of the Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth (OSGEY). 
The Cabinet then discussed the following topics and took the appropriate measures regarding them:
A study prepared by the Legislative Department of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers on the recommendation of the Shura Council that the punishment imposed for violation should be included with the gravity of the wrongful act. The views of The Ministry of Municipality and Environmental on the Shura Councils recommendation regarding judicial seizure. A draft decision from the Minister of Interior to amend some provisions of the executive regulations of the Traffic Law issued in decision No. (6) for the year 2010.
