(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Mar. 25 (Petra) -- Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, Wednesday, confirmed that the curfew is still in place, and that only people will determine when it will be lifted, explaining: "If we adhere, the curfew will be lifted quickly, and if the state of non-compliance with safety and preventive measures continues, it will be prolonged."
During a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSSCM), Adaileh stressed, that "we will see the unfortunate results of the physical contact and practices that we saw yesterday by citizens, and the violations that took place during the curfew, in a few days."
He added: "Every time we violate the curfew, make physical contact, and do not adhere to safety and preventive measures, the results will be dire, and we will be back to square one in the face of this epidemic."
Adaileh continued: "If you want our society to remain safe and sound, then you have a duty to stay in your homes, and to identify with the working cadres from the various military and civil institutions of the state, which work day and night for the sake of your safety and health."
He stressed that the government will not tolerate violation of the curfew, and will deal with violators according the National Defense Law that gives authorities the right to apply maximum punitive measures against violators.
Adaileh reiterated that shops that will be caught violating the curfew's instructions will be closed and their owners will stand trial.
On the mechanism of delivery of basic materials by shops and mega supermarkets to citizens, Adaileh explained that the availability of the service has been postponed until a decision is made by the epidemiological committee to ensure safety procedures.
