Jordan- Zawati discusses ways to maintain energy supply


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, March 17 (Petra) -- Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati, on Tuesday discussed with private and public energy sector institutions, ways to ensure the security of energy supply to address challenges of coronavirus outbreak.
In three separate meetings, the minister called on forming joint technical committees, compromising of the ministry and institutions operating in the sector, in a way it adopt information technology to communicate and implement emergency plans.
Zawati stressed, in her meeting with electricity distribution companies' directors, the need of alleviating loads on citizens in these exceptional circumstances that require cooperation from all community members.
She also highlighted the importance of providing a sufficient stockpile of oil derivatives and liquefied petroleum gas, and ensuring that any emergency breakdowns on electrical system are addressed as quickly as possible.
Zawati urged companies to ensure precautionary measures during the implementation of contingency plans and provide safety environment for workers, especially those whose working conditions require them to stay in work centers around the clock.
The minister noted the importance of coordination and integration between the energy sector and concerned authorities to face the repercussions of this crisis.
