RAMALLAH, March 11 (KUNA) -- Al-Quds Compound, known as the Nobel Sanctuary or Temple Mount, with all its components of mosques, minarets, domes, and doors, reflects the historical identity of Jerusalem.
Since 1967, the important historical milestone witnessed many attempts of Judaization and systematic tampering by the Israeli occupation forces aiming to establish the alleged "structure" through the ongoing excavation works under the foundations of the mosque.
The Jerusalemites confront almost daily incursions by settlers protected by Israeli police forces, which caused Israel to impose many penalties on Palestinians including arrest, deportation and assault.
The old city is surrounded by a wall with several gates that were ruined several times until Sultan Suleiman ordered rebuilding it.(end)
