Jordan- ACC observes 3.5% climb in certificates of origin in two months


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, March 4 (Petra) -- The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) issued 3,412 certificates of origin for exported goods in the first two months of 2020 compared with 3,296 in the same period last year, marking an increase of 3.5 percent, according to ACC statistics.
In a statement released on Wednesday, ACC said that despite the increase in the number of issued certificates, the value of exports during the 2-month period amounted to JD138 million, compared with JD145 million in the same period in 2019, marking an estimated drop of 5.3 per cent.
The ACC statistics showed that certificates were issued for exports heading to the UAE topped the list with 675 certificates, followed by Saudi Arabia with 443, 291 certificates to Iraq, 136 certificates to Egypt and 34 certificates to Lebanon.
In terms of value, Iraq topped the list of export destinations with JD38 million worth of goods and commodities, followed by the UAE with JD25 million, Lebanon with JD16 million, Saudi Arabia with JD10 million and Egypt with JD8 million.
The ACC issues certificates of origin for agricultural and animal products, raw Jordanian natural resources, foreign goods that are re-exported, and for foreign goods purchased from the local market under specific conditions.
