(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Establishments and Authorities Security Department at the Ministry of Interior launched yesterday an initiative ‘Anta Muhim'' (You Are Important) to ensure the safety and security of 2022 FIFA World Cup and other sport events in the country with the help of the community.
The initiative, implemented by Stadiums'' Security Section at the Department, will educate students of schools and colleges, members of sport clubs and spectators on the importance of partnership of security and sport.
The Director of Public Security, Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, released a T-shirt printed with the logo of the campaign in a ceremony held at Qatar National Theatre.
The ceremony was attended by Undersecretary at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi; Adviser to the Minister of Interior, Major General Dr. Abdullah Yousuf Al Mal and Director of the Establishments and Authorities Security Department, Brigadier General Ali Khajim Al Adhbi.
Addressing the event, Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi said that the initiative is very important as Qatar is going to host the mega sport event 2022 FIFA World Cup.
He said the initiative is aimed at preparing Qatari community of all sections to cooperate with the Establishments and Authorities Security Department and police personnel in maintaining the security.
''The community members including students, parents, (citizens and expatriates, adults and children) are very important for shouldering this great responsibility to ensure the security, said Al Nuaimi.
He said that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education which is a key partner of the Ministry of Interior will provide full support for success of the initiative.
''There is enough time to implement the initiative at school students, said Al Nuaimi, urging all people to cooperate with security personnel in sending their messages.
Brigadier General Ali Khajim Al Adhbi said that the initiative ‘You Are Important'' is an advanced community engagement model to create awareness on the importance of partnership between security and sport.
He said that such initiatives are an extension of the tasks and powers of Department that constantly seeks to develop its capabilities and train its human elements to face all challenges within the system of the Ministry of Interior.
''The System aims at achieving further security stability especially those related to securing 2022 FIFA World Cup, which was set as a major goal of the Ministry of the Interior''s strategy, said Al Adhbi.
He said that the initiative is based on creating awareness among all members of the community about the importance of a successful partnership between them and security agencies for presenting a role model for hosting 2022 FIFA World Cup and other giant sport events.
The Supervisor of the initiative, Captain Saeed Juma Al Hitmi said that the initiative is carrying an important community message about building an advanced generation - ideologically, culturally and behaviorally - so they could be first security personnel.
He said that the initiative is based on five points educating community on the partnership between security and sport, organsing seminars, lectures, activities and field visits, bringing latest technologies and practices in dealing with sport security in case of any crisis.
''The initiative will target students of government and private schools of all grades and college students as well students with disabilities and members of sport clubs of football, basketball, volleyball, handball and other games, said Al Hitmi.
He said that the initiative will also target spectators of sport games from citizens and expatriates. ''The initiative will focus on three values which are giving up sport prejudice and violence, nationalise sport sprite and spread culture through sport, said Al Hitmi.
