(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Feb 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Science Club (KSC) declared Wednesday night the winners of competitions at the 12th International Invention Fair in the Middle East held under Amiri patronage.
Algerian inventors Selia Kheshen and Abdulrahim Berwees won the key award of the fair, which featured 120 inventors of a number of countries across the globe.
Kuwaiti investors Saud Al-Baher, Sherifa Al-Fadhala and Amer Al-Erbeed shared equally their compatriot Maryam Yusuf''s award.
In addition, inventors from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Qatar, Sweden and Iraq were among the winners.
In a speech at a ceremony honoring the winners, KSC Chairman Talal Al-Khorafi lauded highly the Amiri patronage of this event which was launched first in 2007.
The fair has become a milestone in the history of international exhibitions on inventions, thanks to the Amiri patronage, he said.
The event is ranked the first in the Middle East region and the second after Geneva in the world, he added.
Since its establishment, the club has sought to enhance the culture of inventions, and create an environment for creative idea, and to turn them into innovative projects that can be applied and invested through helping inventors to display their inventions before investors, officials and ministers, he noted.
He expressed his pride as the fair has attracted a number of distinguished firms and organizations in inventions, which trust Kuwait''s message and goals.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) of the United Nations, the International Federation of Inventors Associations (IFIA) and the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva were present, he made clear. (end)
