Ukraine to cooperate with Romania to ensure security in Black Sea region


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) On February 14, in the framework of the Munich Security Conference, Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Zahorodniuk held a meeting with Romanian Minister of National Defense Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the parties focused on the Black Sea region security.

"Zahorodniuk stressed the importance of cooperation at the level of naval forces and the strengthening of joint efforts with partners in the Eastern European region in order to ensure stability in the Black Sea," the statement reads.

The ministers discussed the promising areas of cooperation, including the future signing of an agreement on military-technical cooperation between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Romania, as well as the exchange of information on situational awareness in air and maritime domains.

The parties also expressed concern about the destabilization activities of the Russian Federation in the Black and Azov Seas, as well as further militarization of the illegally occupied Crimean peninsula.

Among other important aspects, the ministers stressed the need for continued bilateral cooperation, participation in joint multinational exercises and cooperation in the framework of multinational engineer battalion TYSA.
