(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Ministry of Interior (MoI) celebrated National Sport Day yesterday by holding many events and activities organised by the Qatar Police Sports Federation (QPSF) at the Qatar Sports Club (QSC) Stadium.
The events were attended by H E Director of Public Security Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaif, H E President of QSC Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani, President of the Arab and Qatar Police Sports Federations Brigadier Khalid bin Hamad Al Attiyah, and a large number of managers and assistants of MoI departments, Ministry employees, and Qatar Society for the Rehabilitation of Special Needs representatives.
The celebration included sport activities and competitions such as football, volleyball, race, walking, and sports for children in addition to sports activities in different locations held by various departments of the Ministry.
H E the Director of Public Security stressed the importance of exercising sports at all times, indicating that MoI is always interested in sports to maintain the physical strength of the security personnel, officers, and individuals, while wishing everyone to practice sport continuously.
He highlighted the importance attached by Qatar to sports as it supported and encouraged all activities related to sports, established clubs, playgrounds and youth centers, and opened all these venues to the public with the aim of motivating them to practice sport.
Brigadier Khalid bin Hamad Al Attiyah thanked H E the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior for honoring and participating in the activities of MoI, praising the good relationship between QPSF and QSC.
He stressed that sport is of great importance because of its many benefits for all and for MoI in particular as it contributes to raising their physical fitness in performing the tasks entrusted to them, appreciating the great effort that the organizers made in creating an appropriate sporting atmosphere and opportunity for all MoI employees to celebrate Sport Day in 12 locations across the country.
The QPSF President praised the participation of employees of MoI from all departments and their families, who took part in the event at Al Bidda Park, calling for continued practice of sports.
Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani expressed his happiness at the gracing of H E the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and all officers of MoI for celebrating Qatar Sport Day at QSC, praising the well-organized event which excelled in diversifying events and mobilizing great participation of the ministry's employees which increases year after year.
Directorate of Passports Department Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Ateeq said that the Sports Day reflects the great attention given to sport and its important role in promoting health and well-being, pointing out that sports day represents strong boost for everyone who wishes to change his lifestyle for the better.
Director of Juvenile Police Department Brigadier Ibrahim Essa Al Buainain hailed the response of all institutions, bodies, and the public to Qatar Sport Day, which confirms the extent of the success achieved in order to make sport part of daily activity.
