New minister of energy appointed in Turkmenistan

Charymyrat Purchekov has been appointed minister of energy in Turkmenistan, Trend reports referring to the presidential decree.

At the same time, Purchekov has been dismissed from the post of deputy prime minister.

The total volume of electricity generated in Turkmenistan is planned to be increased up to 33 billion kilowatt hours by 2024, which is almost 30 percent more than in 2018.

Turkmenistan sells electricity to Afghanistan, Iran and Uzbekistan.

Ashgabat is also exploring the prospects for supplying electricity to other markets of Central Asia, South Asia, as well as the Caucasian countries.
