Provincial governor of Heart province of Afghanistan said that anonymous armed men gunned down a religious and Hajj official in the province on Sunday.
The governor Abdul Qayum Rahimi said that the shooting took place in the district of Pashtun Zarghun, the gunmen killed the chief of district's Hajj and Islamic Affairs branch, Mawlavi Abdul Rahim Ahmadi, as he was going for his office on Sunday morning.
The attack was not claimed by any group yet, however, the Afghan officials said Taliban insurgents were behind the attack.
The official said that an investigation was launched into the case.
