The company ha developed a file-haring feature called Nearby Sharing - and it ha jut urfaced in a new video from XDA-Developer, looking nearly complete and ready for launch.

Originally called Fat Share , Nearby Sharing i SHAREit-like ervice but one that come baked into the Android OS.
The feature ue Bluetooth to etablih a connection between two nearby device and then employ peer-to-peer Wi-Fi direct to tranfer file between them.
It enable the haring of heavy file, even full-length movie, between eligible Android phone, without requiring a third-party app or an internet connection.

Though Nearby Sharing remain unannounced, the hand-on video hared by XDA (after enabling the feature) how how it would work in the real world.
The video how two Pixel phone uing the feature to hare a number of photo and a video file. It all appear to work eamlely/quickly, except for the cae of the video where the tranfer failed at leat once.

The feature appear right on the Quick Setting page of Android for intant enabling/haring and you can alo control it viibility o that nearby people with the feature cannot pam you with file.
That aid, it i worth noting that the two device hould be within a foot of each other for the haring to work eamlely. (That i quite a bummer!)

Given that Nearby Sharing i already working and nearly complete, Google i expected to launch it pretty oon.
The company han't announced or confirmed the feature but an I/O releae could be on the card.
Either way, when that happen, it would be a big upgrade for mot, if not all, Android uer at once.
