Qatar- QC distributes food baskets among poor Gaza fishermen

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Charity (QC), through its office in the Gaza Strip, has distributed 2,200 food baskets among needy fishermen's families living under problematic economic and social conditions.
Some 2,000 families have benefited from these food baskets worth QR360,000, in addition to 200 families being sponsored under the social welfare programme in the Gaza Strip, QC has said in a statement.
Aiming to preserving the human dignity of the needy, the distribution of the food baskets was carried out through the use of coupons that enabled beneficiary families to directly purchase items necessary to meet their food needs.
This assistance is particularly important in light of the economic crisis that the Palestinian people are currently going through, the statement notes.
The beneficiaries expressed delight at receiving food items, thanking His Highness the Amir of Qatar, the wise Qatari leadership, the country's people and QC for their efforts in easing the burden of the beneficiary families.
Mohamed Abu Haloub, director of Qatar Charity's office in the Gaza Strip, said all beneficiaries were carefully selected and the food baskets would contribute to supporting the families of the poorest fishermen in the Gaza Strip.
