(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- Clashes broke out again on Sunday between protesters and the security forces in the vicinity of the Lebanese parliament, amid calls for maintaining peaceful demonstrations.
The demonstrators threw stones and fireworks at riot police and tried to take down an iron fence separating the two.
The security personnel used tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannon to keep the protesters away from the entrance of the parliament.
The forces warned the protesters that they would deter troublemakers and deal with attacks in line with law.
In addition, the troops asked the demonstrators to prevent those troublemakers from attacks and keep them away.
Saturday witnessed the most violent clashes between the two sides since the start of protests on October 17, wounding dozens of both demonstrators and the anti-riot forces. (end)
