Jordan, UAE discuss economic cooperation


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Jan. 19 (Petra) -- President of the Jordan Businessmen Association (JBA) Hamdi Tabbaa and members of association's board on Sunday discussed with Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Amman Ahmed Ali Al-Balushi, ways of strengthening economic relations between Jordan and the UAE.
Tabbaa stressed the importance of highlighting the promotion of joint investment in areas of tourism and medical tourism, health care and information technology, noting that the national economic stimulus packages recently launched by the government keep advantages and incentives granted to any investment unchanged for a period of 10 years.
Tabbaa called on the UAE private sector to visit Jordan and see firsthand projects underway in the industrial cities and development areas.
The ambassador said UAE investments in Jordan amounts to approximately $15 billion in a number of economic sectors, the most prominent of which are the agriculture and tourism sectors, pointing out that Jordanian investments in the UAE are estimated at $2 billion.
Al-Balushi pointed out that there are approximately 300,000 Jordanians working in the United Arab Emirates in various fields and contributing to supporting the development of the UAE economy.
