Qatar- Department of Meteorology warns of strong wind, thundery rain today


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Weather inshore until 6 pm on Sunday will see misty at places at first becoming slightly dusty to blowing dust and partly cloudy with a chance of rain may be thundery at times, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report, warning of strong wind expected at places and thundery rain at times.

It also added on its social media that there are reports of rain in northern areas - Al Ghuwayriyah and its neighbouring places. The department said that there is increased chance of rain in coming hours. 

Offshore, it will see cloudy with a chance of scattered rain may be thundery at times, the report added, warning of thundery rain or strong wind and High sea.

Wind inshore will be northwesterly at a speed of 12 to 22 knot gusting to 28 knot at places at times.

Offshore, it will be northwesterly at a speed of 15 to 25 knot, gusting to 35 knot with the thundery rain.

Visibility will be 4 to 8 or 2 kilometer or less at places at times.

Sea state inshore will be 2 to 4 feet rises to 5 feet at times. Offshore, it will be 5 to 8 feet rises to 10 feet with thundery rain.

In an earlier report , the department had said that there will be rain and fall in temperatures on Sunday due to extension of low pressure system which will continue until Monday, January 6.
