Turkey: new annual renewable electricity, hydroelectricity generation records in 2019


(MENAFN) The General Manager of Limak Holding Energy Generation Group, Taner Ercomert said that, in 2019, Turkey has made new yearly renewable electricity and hydroelectricity generation records.


According to Ercomert, who is also the Executive Member of the Hydroelectric Power Plants Industry Businessmen Association (HESIAD), in 2019, Turkey's yearly electricity making from renewable sources started a new record volume of 132 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh).


He also said that, in 2019, Hydroelectricity generation also made a new yearly generation record with 88.641 billion kWh and Last year also had daily and monthly hydroelectricity generation records on May 23 and May 2019 with 401.3 million kWh and 11.5 billion kWh, respectively.


Turkey made around 44 percent of its electricity from renewable resources last year; detailed as 29.47 percent from hydropower, 7.13 percent from wind, 3.18 percent from solar energy, 2.74 percent from geothermal energy and 1.34 percent from biomass and others, as said by Turkey's Solar Energy Investors Association (GUYAD).
