(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Muscat, Dec. 16, 2019, SPA -- Host Omani News Agency (ONA) was elected as President of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA), the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as first Vice-President, and Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) as second Vice-President at elections during the closing session of the two-day FANA general assembly conference which was held here today under the patronage of Omani Minister of Information Dr. Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani.
The conference discussed a number of media topics and files of interest to members of FANA.
Photographer Ali bin Mohammed bin Dhafer Al-Shehri of SPA won the Best Picture Award 2019, while the Palestinian News & Information Agency (WAFA) won the best report Award 2019.
The new General Secretariat was composed of Omani, Saudi Arabian, Kuwaiti, Palestinian, Tunisian, Jordanian and Sudanese news agencies.
The General Secretariat praised the success of the symposium of female journalists working for Arab news agencies hosted by the Saudi News Agency in Riyadh on November 27 and 28, 2019.
An ad hoc committee was formed to restudy the statute of FANA and present the outcome to an extraordinary meeting scheduled to be held mid 2020.
FANA final account 2019 and its general budget 2020 were approved by the meeting.
The conference also issued a number of decisions regarding the participation of FANA in international meetings and cooperation with international and regional federations, organizations and agencies in the field of training and exchange of experiences.
