(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: Himalaya Airlines, the private carrier of Nepal has started fight operations between Kathmandu and Dhaka today, July 22 with Airbus A-320 landed at Shahjalal International Airport at 1310 hrs.
The inaugural flight carried 141 passengers including a high profile team from Nepal. The VIP team included Dhan Bahadur Budha, State Minister for Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mashfee Binte Shams, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal , Mohan Krishna Sapkota, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Aviation. Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board among others.
Three officials of the airlines— Vijay Bahadur Sherestha, Vice President, Administration, Ujjwala Dali, Head and Rahisha Thapa of Brand and Service Improvement Department (BSID) also accompanied the delegation.
The VIP delegation from Nepal was received in Dhaka by Air Vice Marshal M. Mofidur Rahman, Chairman and Air Commodore M. Mostafizur Rahman, Member Operation from CAAB and Group Capt Abu Syeed Mehboob Khan, Director HSJIA.
The return flight departed Dhaka at 1410 hrs with 120 passengers.
The airline will operate three flights a week on- Monday, Wednesday and Saturday to Dhaka.
Founded in 2014, Himalaya Airlines operates from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is a joint venture between Yeti World Investment and Tibet Airlines. The Airline launched operations in May 2016 with a single Airbus A320.
Bangladesh is the ninth destination on the airline's network, which includes China, Malaysia, Myanmar, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, UAE and its base Nepal.
