Agreement with IMF to open way for Ukraine to EU macro-financial assistance - ambassador

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The agreement of Ukraine with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on a new cooperation program will also open the way for Ukraine to the European Union macro-financial assistance.

EU Ambassador to Ukraine Matti Maasikas wrote about this on Twitter.

'Much needed and timely conclusion of the staff level agreement, international recognition of ongoing reforms in Ukraine. Together with the recent adoption of anti-money laundering law (final analysis of which still ongoing), should open the way also to the EU macro-financial assistance, he wrote, when commenting on a post made by IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on a new financial program for Ukraine.

As reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier had held a phone conversation with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. Following the conversation, the parties noted that Ukraine and the IMF had reached a staff-level agreement on a new cooperation program.
