Jordan hopes to export its olive oil to Romania, says agriculture minister


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Dec. 4 (Petra)- Minister of Agriculture, Ibrahim Shehadeh, on Wednesday discussed with Romanian Ambassador to Jordan, Nikolai Komanescu, ways to increase Jordanian exports to the Romanian market in coordination with the private sector.
According to a ministry statement, Shehadeh said: "Due to Jordan's need for marketing outlets that support marketing of Jordanian products, especially olive oil, which is classified as of the highest quality and competitiveness, the ministry is ready to provide the competent authorities in the south-eastern European country with all information and tests on the quality of Jordanian olive oil within a week".
The minister called for giving Jordanian olive oil and vegetables a "preferential advantage" in the Romanian markets, adding Jordan imports live animals from Romania, and facilitates the passage of Romanian products to neighboring countries due to the Kingdom's distinguished geographical location.
For his part, the Romanian envoy lauded as "strong" theJordanian-Romanian relations.
