Haag-Streit Academy Hosts Successful 'Premier Slit Lamp Imaging' Course


(MENAFN- Pressat) Harlow, UK – 29th November 2019 – Haag-Streit Academy hosted a successful 'Premier Slit Lamp Imaging' course at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow on the 25th November 2019.

The popular 'Premier Slit Lamp Imaging' course provided attendees with a detailed overview of this highly-skilled ophthalmic imaging discipline. The day included lectures and demonstrations delivered by a faculty of experienced slit lamp imaging specialists, with topics such as; 'The history of the slit lamp' and 'A step-by-step guide to basic eye examination'.

The one-day programme offered 7.5 CPD points and featured a wide range of Haag-Streit slit lamps including; theBP 900 ,BQ 900and theBX 900 , often referred to as 'The Photographer's Slit Lamp'. It covered the various techniques required for anterior imaging, including; diffuse, focal and indirect illumination, as well as retinal imaging using an indirect lens and theFM 300slit lamp mounted fundus camera.

Grant Duncan, HS-UK Clinical Training Manager, said, 'We are very pleased with the success of the 'Premier Slit Lamp Imaging' course. As always, the workshop sessions were very well-received. The smaller groups we allocated to each workshop on this course allowed more opportunity for delegates to gain valuable hands-on experience with Haag-Streit's state-of-the-art imaging devices.'

Grant continued, 'We were delighted to welcome VRMagic to one of the Haag-Streit Academy courses for the first time and to have the opportunity to showcase the Eyesi slit lamp simulator.'

The Eyesi virtual reality simulator allows trainee ophthalmologists and optometrists to perform eye examinations and diagnose diseases on simulated patient eyes. The Eyesi system is built on Haag-Streit's BQ 900 slit lamp and The Academy Team were very pleased to showcase this for the first time in the UK.

Haag-Streit Academy ran a competition during the course to find the best image taken by a delegate.The quality of the photos was extremely high, however, after much consideration, Paul Creighton from Ninewells Hospital in Dundee (pictured) was declared the winner for his fantastic corneal section and overview image.
