(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Al Sailiya will face Al Duhail in a third round Ooredoo Cup match at the Al Ahli Stadium today. Sailiya are at the bottom of the Group B, having lost both their games. They are the only side yet to open their account.
Sailiya are exactly in the same situation as that of Al Shahania in Group A, in terms of the number of defeats, goal difference and even the number of goals scored and conceded. Sailiya lost 1-2 to Al Arabi last week and 0-4 to Qatar SC in the opening round.
Duhail are also coming from a big defeat as they lost to Al Khor by a 0-7 margin. They have yet to register a win and are fifth in the group with one point that they collected from their 2-2 draw with Al Gharafa. Duhail will certainly try to compensate for the setback at the hands of Al Khor, while Sailiya will also seek their first victory.
In another match, Qatar SC face Al Arabi. Qatar SC have been in excellent form of late, ever since former Qatar international midfielder Wesam Rizik took charge, replacing Spaniard Carlos Alos Ferrer.
The Kings had completed a hat-trick of victories to be placed ninth with 12 points in the QNB Stars League, which took a break before the second round of Ooredoo Cup.
Qatar SC continued from where they left and defeated Al Gharafa 3-0 in Round 2 of the Ooredoo Cup last week. They are leading Group B with six points, having defeated Al Sailiya 4-0 in the first round.
They are the only side in the 12-team tournament not to have conceded a goal so far. Al Arabi are third with four points. They made up for their 1-1 draw with Al Khor in Round 1 by defeating Al Sailiya 2-1 last week.
The presence of leading scorers Brazilian forward Kayke Rodriguez, who scored Qatar SC's all three goals against Al Gharafa, and Tunisian striker Hamdi Harbaoui, who netted Al Arabi's both goals against Al Sailiya in Round 2, adds spice to the game.
Meanwhile, Al Khor face Al Gharafa at the Al Wakrah Stadium on Friday. Al Khor made a giant leap with their convincing win over Duhail last week. They moved from fifth to second position in the table with four points.
Saeed Mohamed Brahimi was the star of the show with five goals, well-supported by a double from Ahmed Hassan al-Mohannadi. It was a big consolation for Al Khor who are struggling in 10th place with five points in the QNB Stars League.
On the other hand, reigning champions Al Gharafa are coming off a 0-3 defeat to Qatar SC and stayed on one point they earned from their 2-2 draw with Al Duhail in Round 1. They occupy fourth place in the group.
