Qatar Post joins ranks of certified government agencies with ISO 27001:2013 for its IT system

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Post has successfully received ISO 27001:2013 certification for its implementation of Information Security Management System (ISMC), boosting customer confidence with its robust new protective measures of personal and commercial records.

ISO 27001:2013 is an international recognized framework that helps organizations become more resilient and responsive to information security threats.

Faleh Al Naemi, Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Post, said: 'This award is more evidence that Qatar Post is meeting rigorous international standards in ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data contained with us. At Qatar Post we understand the importance of trust and security, especially when working with personal and commercially-sensitive data, both of which require a high standard of information security to uphold those values. I wish to thank the entire IT security team and colleagues who worked tirelessly to make this achievement possible.

The ISO 27001: 2013 is primarily an information security standard published and managed by the International Organization for Standards (ISO). It ensures that systems and processes at organizations protect clients from unnecessary risk and exposure through best-in-class data privacy and security standards. With the certification, Qatar Post has joined 38 already certified government agencies in the country.

The formal process of implementation began in June 2018 with a strategic alignment with Qatar Post's objectives. A new framework of action was developed around the IT security policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards to support and govern the information security management within the Qatar Post IT environment. The two-stage certificate audits were conducted on September 8, 2019 and October 13-17 respectively. Qatar Post received the certificate on October 24, 2019.
