UNAMI confirms 97 deaths in 2nd wave of Iraq protests


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Nov 5 (KUNA) -- During 12 days of protests in Iraq, 97 people were killed and thousands others injured, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) reported on Tuesday.
In its latest report, the UNAMI Human Rights Office confirmed these deaths and injuries between October 25 and November 4.
The report urged bringing to justice those responsible for the horrific attacks against demonstrators.
It noted that the Iraqi security services were more law abiding in the second wave of protests than in the first one which took place in the first week of October. (end)
