Georgian consulate opened in Brazilian city of Sao Paulo

David Solomonia, Georgian Ambassador to Brazil, attended the opening of the Georgian Consulate in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo,Trendreports citing Georgian media outlets.

With the opening of this institution, a new phase in the bilateral relations between the two countries begins, which will ensure the protection of the rights and interests of Georgian citizens and legal entities, the report said.

"It will promote the development of trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation, encouraging tourism and deepening the connection between the two countries', said Solomonia.

The consulate office will be headed by the Honorary Consul Carmen Lucia Porto Ruette.

Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Brazil were established on 28 April 1993. In 2010, the Embassy of Georgia was set up in the Federative Republic of Brazil.


The governments of Georgia and Brazil signed an agreement for partial exemption of visa requirements for tourists and business people on March 11, 2015.
