Tragic road accident in northern Ukraine


(MENAFN) According to the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine on Monday, nine people have died and 11 were wounded when a bus crashed with a fuel truck in Zhytomyr district, north of Ukraine on Sunday night.


The accident took place on the highway around 10:30 p.m. local time (1930 GMT) some 250 km from Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, the SES said on its website that, "The emergency medics started hospitalizing the victims before the arrival of the firefighters. There were 49 passengers and two drivers on the bus,"


The firefighters hurried to contain the smoke coming out of the fuel truck and managed to prevent a possible explosion, and 47 specialists' also 17 pieces of equipment were brought to the scene; over the weekend, this has been the second road accident in Ukraine.


A passenger minibus and a truck collided in the other accident in Odessa, south of Ukraine on Saturday, causing the death of nine people and injury of four others.
