(MENAFN) Thomas Cook, a leading UK-based holiday operators and airline, was announced to have collapsed as it started canceling flights.
U.K. Civil Aviation Authority emphasized that the iconic tour operator has "ceased trading with immediate effect."
Such an event was a "matter of profound regret," as commented chief executive of Thomas Cook Peter Fankhauser.
A statement said "the government is working with the U.K. Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to help passengers return to the U.K."
