Secretary of Iran Rice Association Jamil Alizadeh Shayeq pointed out that such a boost in rice production is likely to drive a decline in imports.
Annual consumption of rice in Iran hit around 3 million tons, with necessary imports reaching around 400,000 tons.
Official data unveiled that during the first quarter, rice imports to the country were registered at around 700,000 tons.
