(MENAFN) On Saturday, the security department of the western Libyan city of Zuwaraon proclaimed the detention of 28 undocumented migrants who were trying to cross the sea into Europe.
The department affirmed in a statement that the migrants, who are of African and Asian nationalities, were rounded up inside a home in the nearby town of Abu-Kammash.
The statement emphasized that a number of migrants have infectious diseases, adding that they were sent to the department to undergo lawful measures before being handed over to specialized authorities.
Thousands of illegal migrants, most of them are Africans; decide to cross the Mediterranean Sea into Europe to escape the disorder that overwhelmed Libya after the 2011 uprising that toppled the late leader Muammar Gaddafi.
