Pakistan- 30 die, 14 injured in Babusar, Charsaa accidents


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: At least 30 persons lost their lives and 14 others sustained injuries in two traffic accidents at Babusar Top area of Gilgit-Baltistan and Charsadda district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday.

The first accident happened at the famous tourist destination Babusar Top area where a bus carrying tourists collided with a mountain. Twenty-six people lost their lives in the tragic accident, while 13 others were injured.


The local administration said the bus was carrying passengers from Skardu to Rawalpindi when it met the accident while negotiating a turn. The bus went out of driver's control at Babusar Top and collided with a mountain due to which five people died on the spot, while 34 others were injured who were taken to Chilas Hospital.

Faizullah Firaq, a spokesman for the Gilgit-Baltistan government, confirmed that 26 people have lost their lives in the accident so far, while 13 others are under treatment. He said emergency has been declared in the hospital to provide best medical facilities to the injured passengers. He said the injured also include women and children.

The hospital administration feared that the number of deaths might increase as some of the injured were in critical condition. No statement has been issued about the identities of the deceased and injured persons so far.

Another accident happened in Tangi area of Charsadda district where a speeding car plunged into a canal. Four people of a family, including husband, wife and their two children lost their lives in the accident, while driver of the car was injured.

TNN correspondent reported that a person from Yakkaghund area of Mohmand tribal district was travelling to his village from Charsadda in a car along with his wife and two children to meet his relatives when the car fell into a canal due to over speeding.

The local people retrieved the bodies and the car from the canal and shifted the bodies and the injured to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Tangi. The deceased were identified as Qamar, his wife, Hafsa Bibi and Bilal and Muhammad, while the injured driver was identified as Saleh Muhammad. The injured driver was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar due to his critical condition.
