Kuwait Winter Sport Club receives in't curling, skating unions membership


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Winter Sports Club received full membership in the the International Skating Union (ISU) and the World Curling Federation (WCF).
The WCF membership approval came after the club had met the sportive and administrative requirements by the federation. The approval was issued during the World Curling Congress and Annual General Assembly held in Mexico, said the club's chairman Fuhaid Al-Ajmi in a press statement on Sunday.
With the two recent memberships, the club became part of international unions for four out of five games it covers.
The club also aims to enter the international federation for Speed Skating to cover all five sports it offers, said Al-Ajmi. He added that the club is also a member at the International Ice Hockey Federation and the world girls' figure skating union.
Meanwhile, he noted that the club is close to completing the building of its new Olympic training hall in the district of Bayan, under the Public Authority for Sport.
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice towards a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones across the ice curling sheet towards the house, a circular target marked on the ice. (end)
