Deadly conflicts in Libya, Tripoli


(MENAFN) According to military sources of both Libya's UN-backed government forces and the east-based rebel army sides, 18 people have died and a lot others wounded in violent conflicts on Saturday between the both of them.


A military source of the government forces said that 11 of their troops have died and dozens wounded in the south of the capital, a source of the east-based army said that, "Seven of our troops were killed in the fighting axes of the airport road, Salah al-Din and Ain Zara (southern Tripoli), and dozens of others were wounded,"


The army had started a large-scale offense against the government forces in southern Tripoli, as said by Ahmad al-Mismari, spokesman for the east-based army, on Saturday.


Since early April, the east-based army has started a military process to take over Tripoli and overthrow the UN-backed government, the fighting until now have killed and wounded thousands of people and displaced almost 120,000.
