(MENAFN) Officials said on Saturday that, 20 militants were killed by the units of Afghan Special Forces backed by fighting planes in western Badghis and northern Kunduz regions through overnight processes.
A statement from the provincial government said that, in the first operations done against militants in Balamurghab region of western Badghis province in the last hours of Saturday, 12 insurgents died and eight others were injured, the statement also added that targeting the militants would carry on.
Qudratullah Safi a district official said that, the government forces, in similar operations started against Taliban fighters in Khanabad region of the northern Kunduz province early Saturday, eight militants have died and seven others were injured.
The official said that there were no security personnel or civilians hurt in the operations, cleanup actions had been started in eastern Ghazni region as nine insurgents were detained, as well as three organizers of the deadly car bomb explosion in southern Zabul's provincial capital Qalat on Thursday, as said by the Afghan defense ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
The deadly car bomb explosion caused the death of at least 20 people and wounded 93 others, taliban militants fighting government forces to regain power have not commented.
