India- BBIA urges J&K Governor to ensure roll back of electricity duty from 15 per cent to 10 per cent

(MENAFN- KNN India) BBIA urges J&K Governor to ensure roll back of electricity duty from 15 per cent to 10 per cent

Srinagar, Sep 21 (KNN) Bari Brahmana Industries Associations (BBIA) from Jammu has demanded the roll back of electricity duty from 15 per cent to 10 per cent and sought Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik's intervention into it.

BBIA held an urgent meeting under the leadership of its president Lalit Mahajan on Friday, where the members present raised serious concerns in respect of increase of Electricity Duty from 10% to 15% putting extra burden on the existing Industrial sector as well as on the common people of the State.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Industrial sector of Bari Brahmana is paying around Rs 150 Crores per annum to the Power Development Department with the Transmission Loss of 5 to 6% which is much lower than the National Level and it is unjustified to increase the rate of Electricity Duty without any valid reason.

'It is worthwhile to mention here that industries department is working on war footing basis to bring new investment in the State on the basis of subsidized consultation with the stake holders of J & K and common people in spite of the fact that in the neighbouring state Himachal Pradesh the electricity duty is 5% only and we fear that the prospective investor of industrial sector may opt for setting up of their units in Himachal Pradesh,' the release read.

The meeting also saw Tarun Singla, Sr. Vice President, Ajay Langer Vice President, Viraaj Malhotra General Secretary, Rajesh Jain Secretary and Vivek Singhal Treasurer BBIA and other members.
