Power cut hours increased in Zambia

The power utility in Zambia said that its going to raise the hours for power rationing because of a continued fall of water levels in the hydro power plants.

Zesco Limited has been carrying out power rationing system since June this year because of a power deficit resulting from low water levels caused by poor rains.

The firm said that the power cut hours rose from 6 to 8 for all industrial and commercial customers.

The power utility said in a statement to its customers that "This measure is meant to prevent draining of our water reservoirs leading to shutdown of major generation plant".
