Sri Lanka- Justice Ministry to investigate leaked telephone conversation

(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) The Ministry of Justice says it will be launching an investigation into a leaked telephone conversation said to involve former Director General of the Bribery Commission Dilrukshi Dias Wickremasinghe and Avant-Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi.

Justice Minister Thalatha Athukorala said that the Ministry will need to first verify the authenticity of the telephone recording.

She said that only once the authenticity is verified will they be able to take the next step.

A person purported to be Dilrukshi Dias Wickremasinghe is heard in the recording expressing regret over the action taken on Avant-Garde.

She said that had she known several people will lose their jobs she would not have taken legal action.

The female voice is also heard saying "I know how to break the law and make the law".

Athukorala told reporters this evening that she heard the voice recording and needs to first verify if the voice is that of Dilrukshi Dias Wickremasinghe.
