'We'll Respond to US Plots, All The Way from The Mediterranean Sea to The Indian Ocean,' Iran Warns Washington

(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) TEHRAN - Tehran has promised to strongly retaliate against any potentialUS attacks, after both Washington and Riyadh accused the Islamic Republic ofbombing Saudi oil refineries.
'If the Americans think of any plots, the Iranian nation will respondfrom the Mediterranean to the Red Sea and to the Indian Ocean, a top militaryadviser to Iran's Supreme Leader, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, said onFriday.
The major general, who used to lead the Islamic Revolutionary GuardCorps (IRGC), warned that US President Donald Trump would share the fate ofprevious presidents, who'd 'failed to impose their political will on theIranian nation.
Tensions have been running high between Washington and Tehran, afterarmed drones struck two Saudi state-run oil facilities over the weekend, temporarily disabling half of the kingdom's oil production capacity.
Although Yemeni Houthi rebels quickly admitted to having attacked theoil sites, Riyadh and its major ally the US blamed Iran. The Islamic Republicvehemently denies being involved in the drone strikes.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the attack was tantamount to anact of war by Iran. Officials in Tehran, meanwhile, renewed their pledge toretaliate with full force if attacked by the US.
Pompeo later softened his tone somewhat, saying Washington would like tobuild an international coalition aimed at achieving peace with Iran. Safavi, however, dismissed the overture as an attempt to 'deceive the people in theregion and the world.
While vowing to take a diplomatic approach, Pompeo accused Tehran ofwarmongering and threatening to 'fight to the last American. His Iraniancounterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif responded by saying that Pompeo 'has it theother way around. (RT)
