Jordan- FM calls on international community to halt Israeli violations in Palestinian territories

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) New York, Sept. 20 (Petra)-- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, called on the UN Security Council and the international community to immediately halt the Israeli violations in the occupied Palestinian territories that threat international peace and security.
Addressing a Security Council session in New York dubbed, " The Middle East, Including The Palestinian Question," Safadi warned that efforts that aim at achieving a comprehensive peace are on the brink today.
The two-state solution, Safadi stressed, is the only way to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, adding that Israel is violating all international legitimacy resolutions by its unilateral actions.
The minister highlighted the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side with Israel in peace and security.
Safadi reiterated Jordan's stance towards Jerusalem, saying that, " Jerusalem, as His Majesty King Abdullah II said, the Custodian of the Islamic and Christian Holy Sites in Jerusalem, is precious to Muslims and Christians, as it is to Jews, and key to region's peace."
The security can't be achieved by annexing the occupied Golan Heights, and by declaring the intention to annex the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea in the occupied Palestinian territories, Safadi said during the session.
