The shooting took place at Columbia Heights in Northwest Washington at around 10:06 pm, said police.
As soon as the gunfire was reported, first responders rushed to the spot, which isn't far from the White House.

Cops have blocked the area for investigation
As part of the investigation, cops blocked the sidewalks in the area. They added that road closures can be expected too.
Residents of nearby apartment buildings were seen standing on the streets, as they tried to find a way to get to their homes.
Visuals which emerged on social media showed that people were being taken to nearby hospitals in ambulances.
